Pool Opening May 17
HRHA 2008 Membership Campaign is Underway!
Our membership campaign is now in full swing. Homeowners Association memberships are
available in two levels: (1) $50 for basic membership and (2) $385 for facilities (pool/tennis/playground)
membership ($350.00 for households outside the Huntcliff neighborhood). Membership
forms will be mailed to all members soon. Sign up will continue through May. You can pay by mail
(2090A Lawrenceville-Suwanee Road, #202, Suwanee, GA 30024), or through our website at
http://www.huntcliff.org (see the Treasurer’s Note below). Or, you can always pay in person at the Pool
Opening party on May 17th (see inside). For more information on memberships, call Mark
Hildebrand at 678-442-7902 or e-mail him at treasurer@huntcliff.org.
A NOTE FROM THE TREASURER:
Payment for membership is easy! As your neighbors, we understand that $385 can hit the
monthly cash budget hard. The Homeowners Association has implemented the PayPal payment
system, that allows you to pay your dues via credit card in a secured environment. Simply go to our
neighborhood website at http://www.huntcliff.org and click on the ‘Payments’ link in the top right corner.
Or you can access the payment center directly at http://huntcliff.org/1.5.html. Of course, we still
accept good old fashioned cash and checks, too.
You are needed! Every membership counts, and the money collected for memberships allows us
to maintain neighborhood operations and beautification of our Huntcliff facilities. – Mark Hildebrand

in increments of $125, and for each $125, a Facilities Member may
sponsor an individual to also utilize the facilities in the following capacities:
(1) an adult (age 17 and older) that resides outside Huntcliff, or (2) a child
(age 16 and younger) that currently resides inside Huntcliff whose family has
not been a facilities member in the previous two years, or (3) a child (age 16

Sponsored children may only be persons that cannot be claimed as a

the primary mailing address of the individual who claims them on their

The individual sponsored must be specifically designated by name, age, address for tax purposes,
and telephone number. The individual sponsored will be listed on the access key card and may only
attend any facilities or events if they are accompanied by a sponsoring member.
Huntcliff Pool Pavilion Is Available for Parties

that reside in Huntcliff and are facility members. Facilities members may reserve the pool pavilion for
$80.00 if their guests include Huntcliff residents that are not facility members.
Included in the rental is the use of one grill, up to 20 guests and $2/guest
thereafter (guests who reside in Huntcliff must be facilities members), electricity
and ceiling fans, and 4 picnic/3 long panel tables. The pavilion may
not be reserved during the hours of 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. on Saturdays,
Sundays and holidays. To make your reservations, contact Bo Ford at 678-

...this Summer at the Huntcliff Pool
...and have plenty of fun in the sun at the Huntcliff Neighborhood Swim, Tennis and
Recreation facilities. If you’ve been a member before, you already know how enjoyable a
summer day can be when you crack open a new can of tennis balls and play a set or two on
one of our courts. Maybe your kids will enjoy the playground area while you play. When
you’re done with tennis, head on over to the pool, where a cool, refreshing dip in the water
awaits. Make a full day of it... bring something to cook on the grill for supper, something
frosty to drink, and visit with your neighbors.
If you haven’t been a Homeowner’s Association facilities member before, now is the time
to find out what you’ve been missing, and take advantage of all the amenities our neighborhood
has to offer. Full membership costs just $385.00, which covers your full use of all the
recreational facilities. Compare this price to other forms of summer entertainment in the area,
and you’ll come to appreciate just how big a bargain this really is.
Your financial commitment to the Homeowners Association is very important. Not only
does it provide you with access to the facilities, and give you a voice in neighborhood affairs,
but it also ensures our ability to maintain an excellent quality of life in Huntcliff. Ultimately,
your investment in the neighborhood is an investment in our way of life, and in the value of
your home.
It’s going to be an eventful summer at the pool this year. On the May 17th pool opening
day, we’ll have an open house, where everyone, member or not, is invited to come use the
facilities. We will also be having a Round Robin Tennis Tournament that day, with the proceeds
going toward upkeep of the facilities. The Round Robin is always fun to play in or just
to watch (ability is NOT a requirement.) The grills will be fired up cooking hamburgers and
hot dogs for all. The Activities Committee is already planning several other organized events
and activities for the summer, that are sure to be big fun for your entire family. And don’t
forget Family Fridays. They have become something of a tradition at the Huntcliff pool...
a terrific, casual way to wind down at the end of a work week.
From now until the opening day of the pool, your Homeowners Association Board and
neighborhood volunteers will be hard at work getting our facilities ready for you: cleaning,
building, painting and beautifying. We will also have a community service day on May 3rd,
starting at 10:00 am, when everyone can pitch in to help finish all of the last minute details of
our project. It’s a great opportunity to show your community pride and involvement. Please
help us by lending a hand... you can visit with the neighbors you haven’t seen during the
winter, and meet some new friends while we work!
Please give serious consideration to joining our Homeowner’s Association. It’s good for
you, and it’s good for all of us. For more information about joining, call any board member
(see back page of this newsletter) or visit our website at http://www.huntcliff.org

Congratulations are in order for the B-Level Mixed Doubles team. They
took 1st Place in their division for the Winter season!
Discovery Point Tennis Classic
The 19th annual Discovery Point Tennis Classic is scheduled on
May 8th-11th, at the Steeplechase Tennis Facility. This is a charity doubles
tournament that is open to all. Some of the matches may take
place at the Huntcliff tennis courts over the course of the weekend (Facilities members
and ALTA Captains are advised to take note of this, to avoid any court scheduling
conflicts). Proceeds from this tournament will benefit Children’s Healthcare of
Atlanta, one of the nation’s leading pediatric hospitals. For registration or more
information on this event, visit http://www.discoverypointclassic.com
Huntcliff Round Robin Tournament
Huntcliff will be having our semi-annual Round Robin Tennis Tournament on opening day, May
17th! Donations will be accepted, and the proceeds will go to help maintain our facilities area. This is
always a fun, lively tournament and something you don’t want to miss if you’re a tennis player.
Remember: tennis skills are NOT a requirement!
For more information on this tournament, contact Karen Hayes at karenkh@charter.net.

C.O.P.S.
C.O.P.S. PROGRAM (Community Oriented Police Service)
Our neighborhood is active in the Gwinnett County Neighborhood Watch program,
called "C.O.P.S." This program is designed to develop a good working
relationship with our local County Police Department, and to make our
community safer by having in place a network of volunteers who serve as Block
Captains, whose job is to be a contact person should someone wish to report
any suspicious and possibly illegal activity in Huntcliff or the surrounding area. Should any such
activity be reported, the Block Captains contact the neighborhood C.O.P.S. Liaison*, and the network
starts buzzing with e-mails and phone calls to alert as many of our neighbors as possible.
Carole Doner has served in the role of C.O.P.S. Liaison for the past 5 years. We are all very
thankful for Carole’s commitment to this duty for such a long time. This year, however, she is passing
the mantle of responsibility to Bill and Tammy Knox. We wish them the best in their new duties.
Since we are a master community (a neighborhood that has been in the C.O.P.S. program for
many years), we are required to participate in three activities a year. One is a Block Captain meeting
with our C.O.P.S. officer in the spring. This meeting is scheduled on April 24th, 7:00 pm at Carole’s
house at 700 Saddle Wood Way. Everyone interested in this program is urged to attend. Officer
Pollock, our C.O.P.S. officer, will review the past year's crime incidents for our neighborhood and
have a short educational program. He will also answer any questions we may have.
Secondly, we must do a C.O.P.S. awareness event. Traditionally, we have set up a table display
promoting the C.O.P.S. program at the annual pool opening. We usually get a cake with the C.O.P.S.
lettering to share with our neighbors, and someone will be there to answer any questions, and
update personal contact information.
Finally, C.O.P.S. volunteers must attend the annual C.O.P.S. festival, which is usually held in
October. This is a fun and free way to find out more about the public safety resources in our
community.
These 3 things represent a very small investment of time to keep this program going in our
neighborhood. Currently, we have some areas in our neighborhood that do not have Block Captains.
We need to fill all the Block Captain jobs and have the channels of communication flowing when we
do need to get the word out.
Your assistance is needed to help make our C.O.P.S. Program a success. Learn more about
becoming a Block Captain by visiting our table at the pool opening, or contact Bill or Tammy Knox at
wknox10@msn.com.
*NOTE: The Gwinnett County Police non-emergency number is 770-513-5122. This is the number
Huntcliff residents should first use to report any non-emergency incidents or suspicious happenings
in the neighborhood. For example, a suspicious person doing door-to-door sales without an identification
badge should be reported here. Of course, for all serious emergencies, call 911.
